Our January interior idea is from A Home for all Seasons by Kristin Perers.

Each season brings a different mood. The temperature and the quality of the light change: we want to feel cool and easy in summer and warm and cosy in winter. The seasons have an inevitable rhythm, but this can be lost in our modern lives. Change is the only constant: apply this to your life and your home and use it as a reminder to observe the everyday wonders around you.

Winter comes upon us and the world is at rest again. Days are short and the weather can be dreary. We fight the elements in winter more than any other time of year. But a northern gale and gray skies make us appreciate the comforts of home all the more. Winter is the time when nature hibernates and we are not excluded.

Make a few bold gestures to mark the season. For example, you could transform a disused fireplace or other alcove in your home into a stage set for seasonal vignettes. For winter, you could fill it with church candles surrounded by twigs collected on a weekend walk.
