Baby Talk
July's tip is taken from Baby Talk by Chris Losh
With a new arrival on the way, a few words of wisdom from parents who have been through it all before can be a great help. In Baby Talk, parents consider the much discussed subject of sleep:
'I have no idea where the expression "to sleep like a baby" comes from. It must have been made up by someone who either doesn't have kids or forgot what they were like when they were little.'
'The best sound in the early hours of the morning is that of your baby burping, since you know you can put them back in the cot and go back to bed! '
'Most babies sleep with their arms fully stretched or bent above their head. We called the positions "full parachute" and "half parachute".'
'Before having children you'd hate the idea of getting up in the middle of the night. But despite the awfulness of it, when you see them your reluctance just melts away.'
